Heat Speculative Ad

PeterFull

Below is speculative advert I have cre4ated for a heat campaign. Absolutely loved workiong on this one and the creative route taken. Unfortunately, an ad of this calibre doesn’t lend itself well to being templated with different content each week – Oh well.

~Enjoy!

Golden Opportunities

GoppsMain

A friend of mine gave me the opportunities to create my second music video. My friend’s band, The Cutaway are an up and coming alternative pop band. Oli Court approached me to create a music video for the title  track of their new EP ‘Golden Opportunities’. Following my method of working, I prefer to create a video with a story that viewers can follow, thus keeping their attention for the duration of the song. I listened to the track, and a envisaged a coherent story. The track gave me visions of pursuit, or two lovers on the run, and so, the scenario was set. The various characters within the video seemed to fall out of this process, then again, as mentioned before, I seem to have a knack of creating characters for certain scenarios.

I had a lot of passion for the song and wanted this to come through in the video, so spent a lot of time perfecting each scene, I was also teaching myself Cinema 4D at the time and wanted to use the video to take advantage of this. A few scenes, (such as the one in the bar where you first see the band) took two weeks to create and animate…for only a few seconds of screen time! – it was long (10 months to complete, working in my spare time) but it was worth it. I had to cut a lot of scenes even, the female character was intended to use a horse and a boat, unfortunately, this would have been to much pack in. Below the video, I’ve placed a few production shots of the video, as well as a few of my initial ideas I jotted down when the video was in its planning stage. ~Enjoy!

Indie film trailer and site

SE_Main

I was luckily enough to get the opportunity to create this web trailer for an independent film. At the time the film was selected to be screened at the Portobello Film Festival 2010, which restricted any footage of the film being shown anywhere else. Therefore, no footage could be shown in the actual trailer. This resulted in the clip below, consisting of assets from the film and no film footage at all (the hands present belong to a friend of mine). I was also required to build a site for the film. The Director (Ed Edwards) and writer producer (Sam Edwards) preferred I keep the name of the film off my sites, enabling all the top Google searches to pick up the the films actual site, you can view the site here.

Popstar!

PopStar_Main

The first collaboration of me with my younger brother AKA – Akay and my first music video. Here we took one of his best tracks from his mixtape and I wrote, shot, directed and edited this video. A mammoth task, believe me- it took ages. But the result was great, a coherent story and enough to keep you hooked to the end – and of course – a banging tune! Take a look and enjoy!

Animation for Hotel Ibis

IBIS_Main

Wanting to create another motion Graphics piece, I entered into a competition run by Hotel Ibis. The (loose) theme was ‘what would you do for a good nights sleep’. With the top prize being £5000. Quite worth ones time don’t you think? Unfortunately I didn’t win but I did win a weekend in one of the Ibis hotels, after becoming a runner up. Created in After Effects, I recycled the character I created for a nokia project a few years ago, substituting their legs and arms for paths in After Effects, enabling them to be animated easily.

e4 Competition

Below is my entry into the e4 e-sting competition 2009, I based the style on the German animator Lotte Reiniger.

T-Mobile.

T-mob_Main

below is a video I created for a HD screen within the T-mobile stores, created entirely in After Effects and modelled in 3DS Max. For this video, I literally took a mediocre brief and made something more of it. click on the image below the video to view the original brief and see how it differs.

Tescos

I present below a Motion graphics piece, created for the in-store HD screens for Tescos Supermarket, Every little helps!

Tales End

TalesEnd_Main

Eventually I reached a point where I wanted my motion graphics works to reach a wider audience. So I entered a competition put on by MTV Asia called MTV&Me. The aim was to create your own MTV ident, which (if short-listed) would be played  live TV in Asia.

So, I came up with a scenario and a few character. I based the story off the classic fairy tale of the Princess and the Frog, except there’s no Princess, just a girl named K (short for Kate). The magic is the change from the rural to the urban setting. The characters in this piece are not based on anyone in particular, I guess my imagination is wild enough for me to create various characters easily (as can also be seen in the Uckers project).

Within this project I expressed another trademark style of mine which is to basically animated everything to the music. That is to let the music dictate the flow of the story. I was told once that most people do things the other way round,  but that didn’t make much sense to me. I sourced the music from a compositor named Dave Gross. I heard a few samples from his site and asked him to create a 30 sec edit of one of his pieces.

The ident was received well by MTV Asia and was aired early in 2009, I even received a certificate from MTV for my efforts. Enjoy the video below, beneath of which are various a few production stills of the characters.

Tescos Video

Below is a short but sweet piece created for a Tescos Mobile in-store offer.

Ariel Excel Gel

ExcelGel_MainPic

After a 2 and a half year Hiatus from freelancing and all creative work (particularly motion), I return with the creation of this promotional/informative piece for Ariel Excel Gel. Created so the execs could inform supermarket and potential bulk buyers of the beneficial properties of this product.

Created partly in 3DS Max and After Effects, I was a little out of my depth, especially with the wealth of information that was necessary to be included. Bringing my signature style across (engaging and keeping the viewers attention) was almost impossible with this piece. Looking back, I would have probably gone along a different creative route if I had to do this again.

QAS & Data

below is one of my very first commercial motion pieces. please note is is one of my first (and it shows), I am quite proud of it however because after all its simplicity, this piece is still actually quire engaging.

QAS Sales Presentation

Below is a motion graphics piece created for QAS, a software development company. I had a lot of fun making this. As the piece was for presentation purposes only and not for profit, I was able to use the music you’ll hear on the soundtrack. I did my best to make this piece engaging and enjoyable to watch. Enjoy :)

QAS Tech Presentation

Here’s a motion graphic piece created for the annual technical presentation of a software development company. The brief and content came from the PA of the director, visualisation, composition and editing was done by myself. I even included my favourite track from one my favourite games, Jet Set Radio. :)

DataWorld

This piece encompasses the last video I created for the software company QAS. The creative process was wrapped in so much red tape, I didn’t get much say in anything apart from the visuals. In my opinion the content is rather long winded and fails in keeping attention for very long. A classic result of non creatives being involved in the creative process, Certainly not one of my best pieces.

One saving grace is that I got to use 3DS Max a little more in the production process, as well as try out new techniques. I opted to create the characters without arms or legs as this made it easier for me to animate them. The video narrated by an employee of QAS.
