Data Moshing
Has anyone seen the kanye west video ‘Welcome to heartbreak’
I first saw it via download, and then thought ‘Man, this video is corrupted!!’ Then saw it on TV and realised they intentionally made it that way you can view it here:
Since then, there’s been a few more videos and internet media built around this technique. Me doing some creative research came across these tid bits:

Seems like this visual technique is definitely ‘In’ at the moment. I still didn’t know what to cal it though, so after more extensive research, it appears this new technique is called DataMoshing. After finding the name, I found this article, the writer of which seemed to have had a similar journey to me:
