I’ll be releasing a new animation each week which will feature on this page.
MUSICxMOTION :1/7: VICTORIAN SPLENDOUR
I finally took the plunge, put my fears aside and decided to learn Houdini
(No, not parlor tricks but a 3D application – though what it does is pretty magical!), it’s been quite a journey. It’s like…taking a deep dive into the world of maths and 3D. I’ve been left…inspired!
I’ll be revealing a collection of shorts in the coming weeks, exploring the musical side of motion, all made in Houdini, giving me an opportunity to explore aspects I’ve been dying to try out, but rarely get the opportunity.
Put headphones/sound on, sit back and enjoy. Hopefully you’ll become as inspired as I am 😉

P.S. you should most definitely put headphones/sound on 😉

MUSICxMOTION :2/7: CHILD’S PLAY
Music: All that by Zane Little (https://linktr.ee/zanelittle)
I decided to create this MUSICxMOTION series to not only practise simulations in Houdini, but to also explore creative ideas I rarely get the chance to. But, above all – I wanted to have fun, and there’s an abundance of that here! Coincedently, this one here is the favourite amongst my kids, it’s easy to see why. Put your headphones/sound on, sit back and enjoy, It’s play time!

It’s going to be a good day – everything’s going to be okay! 😎
Headphones/sound on for the full experience, you won’t want to miss out 😉

MUSICxMOTION :4/7: IN THE SOUK
I get inspired a lot by travelling and recently got to experience the sights and sounds of Morrocco. I did try to reflect that inspiration here by incorporating those lovely Morroccan tiles as a background. In the end it just didn’t work so I opted for something a lot simplier, yet way more effective. I guess one shouldn’t be afraid to abandon ideas if they’re not working. What gets you inspired?
Put on those headphones or sound on for the full experience.

MUSICxMOTION :5/7: THERE’S SOMETHING IN THE DARK
Music: Hunted by Scott Holmes Music
I absolutely love horror and am incredibly inspired by it. I guess by default, this one is my favourite from the series. I used Redshift to create and render the ‘flesh’ material on geometry generated by Houdini. I wanted to go futher and use Cinema 4D to generate hairs over the geometry….That would have been AWESOME, but using hair in Cinema 4D is just a buggy and unsavoury experience (i.e. – a pain!) I think I’ll be using Houdini for any hair generation going forward. The music for this piece just tops it all off, Scott Holmes is a very good compositor. (Put on headphones/sound to experience it fully!)

MUSICxMOTION: 6/7: ARTS DÉCORATIFS
I took inspiration from the New York aesthetic for this entry in the series. The buildings and architecture of the Empire State are heavily defined by the Art Deco design principle, a popular trend of the 1920s and 30s. While working with Houdini and Redshift, I tried to capture that essence while also trying to maintain the aesthetic of the 2020s. The past, when reimagined through design, becomes timeless.
Please put on your headphones/sound for the full experience.
